The following policies apply to CEF's SLICE of Summer enrichment program only. The SLICE of STEM and SLICE of Credit programs are operated through partners and cancellation, COVID-19, and scholarships policies may vary.

COVID-19 Policy: Claremont Educational Foundation's SLICE of Summer program is committed to creating as safe of an experience for your child as possible. We follow all state, county, and local COVID-19 safety guidelines to reduce exposure of COVID-19 for all students and staff. All attendees are requested to observe the same health and safety protocols as they would attending a CUSD public school including wearing a mask (if currently required), frequent hand washing, self-monitoring for signs of illness, and staying home if sick. We cannot guarantee that your child will not be exposed to COVID-19. By enrolling your child in SLICE of Summer, you agree that your child will be “attending at their own risk” and CEF/SLICE, Claremont Unified School District, school facilities being use for in-person classes, and our partners will not be liable in case of COVID-19 infection.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations by students prior to the start of SLICE of Summer will follow the following tuition refund schedule (not including registration and/or materials fees) – 4 or more weeks prior to session start date will be refunded 75%, 14-27 days prior to session start date will be refunded 50%, and 7-13 days prior to session start date will be refunded 25%. No refunds will be issued for cancellations less than 7 days prior to session start date. In the event that in-person sessions or classes can no longer take place due to COVID-19, CEF will make every effort to transition classes to online. If online classes are not possible, students will be offered full value of unused session days as a credit for the 2023 SLICE of Summer program or a check or credit card refund of unused days, less 20% to cover non-refundable insurance and administration costs.

Scholarships: Limited SLICE of Summer scholarships are available to Claremont Unified School District students with demonstrated financial need who will benefit from the opportunities the SLICE Enrichment Program provides. SLICE scholarship recipients can receive a discount of 75% off the tuition rate plus the registration fee through a simple application and verification process. Means of verification include proof of participation in the public school free and reduced lunch program, proof of participation in the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), proof of participation in SNAP or CalFresh, or a nomination letter from a Claremont Unified School District principal. Scholarships are limited to one child per class per summer (all children within a family or household are eligible, one application must be completed per child) and will be chosen randomly through a lottery system. If scholarship funding exceeds requests, students may be offered the opportunity to register for a second class. Please note: Scholarships are only for the SLICE of Summer Enrichment program and are not currently available for SLICE of Credit courses. (Scholarships for SLICE of STEM may be available separately through the course provider.)
